KitchenAid 30-inch Freestanding Electric Range YKFED500ESS

We have had a few stoves in a lifetime. Hands down this is the best one I have ever owned. The heat distribution has improved our quality of meals and baking. Love the double oven, once you’ve gone double you’ll never go back. KitchenAid really got this one right.

I really tried to love it I purchased this oven with a Kitchenaid double door fridge and dishwasher for my kitchen remodel. I must say I absolutely love the fridge and dishwasher but have become to hate the stove. I really wanted a double oven and have been impressed with all of my previous Kitchenaid products whether big or small until this stove. The biggest irritation and disappointment is the cooktop. It is absolutely the hardest to clean or attempt to keep clean. Cooking anything leaves a stain and splashed water looks like you burnt sugar on the cooktop. I have purchased the recommended cleaner but you still must clean and scrape the cooktop like you have burnt food all over it every time you cook. If you just turn on the burner with a pot on it and don’t cook anything it leaves markings like you cooked and needs to be cleaned. I was impressed with the 3 burner selection when I purchased it however the burners only work on high to cook anything except the large one. If you even turn the knob down one click it’s like you turned off the burner. High for everything or no heat at all. The cooktop scratches easily even with brand new pots. I previously had a GE cooktop that was never so hard to keep clean and the temperature gauges worked. This stove is a huge disappointment. The oven takes so long to preheat especially the bottom oven. It takes 30 minutes to reach 375 degrees. That’s ridiculous. Like I said before I have tried to love it for a few months now as I loved the look and how it was supposed to function but this product has definitely not performed as promised and my husband and I have definitely come to hate it.

I purchased this oven six months ago with an extended warranty and am I ever sorry I made this decision. After running the self-clean on the top oven, the inner glass which you are unable to clean was completely discolored which impacts the function of the oven as you can no longer see through the glass. Running the self-clean also discolored all the seals and left horrible black stains throughout the inside. This issue impacts functioning of the oven but has been deemed cosmetic and therefore will not be fixed. After providing photos and receiving no information about my concern I contacted customer service once again. When I asked to speak to a manger, I was told by the representative on the phone that they were the manger and they would not be able to help me nor would they provide me someone else to speak to. This oven is a huge disappointment. It has decent capacity, but the convection does not run true to temperature and you obviously are unable to use the self-clean without it impacting the functioning with substantial discoloration of the glass panels. I certainly would not recommend this product nor any other KitchenAid product after this dismal experience.

I bought the item 15 months ago only to clean it for the first time and the enamel chipped off in places as big as 2 inches. Given it was a manufactures defect the only way I could get a replacement was to pay a proportionate value. Not happy

I bought this oven about two months ago and I could not be happier. I love the double oven. Everything cooks evenly and to perfection. I am so happy I could do the commercial. Even such a little thing like frying an egg to perfection is awesome. I have never owned such a great appliance. When I am ready to replace my refrigerator and dishwasher, it will buy Kitchen Aid.
