Sleek and efficient

In our newly remodeled kitchen we wanted an efficient way to remove cooking odors and steam from our cooking surface but didn’t wanted overhead hood. This appliance accomplishes that very efficiently & good looking too.

Works Well

I replaced an older model downdraft and like the new one very much. It comes up higher than my old one and collects more of the smells and steam.

Downdraft Review

Happy with the product. Works well with the cooktop burners closest to the downdraft. Not as well with the burners further away unless fan on high.

Daughters home. fan won't stay up

3 yrs old ( almost ) Kitchenaide [****] sent out technician March 26. cost $150 . Was told motor arm isn't working. Parts $600.00 plus labour. Extra if other problems. Told $1300 + $600.00 labour to replace to new. Was also told fans were averaging 4 yrs. The stove is installed in a island with no wall areas, so it's not like you can just go to a different style. This does not add up. miss informed or? My son has all Kitchenaid very happy. In next month we will be replacing all kitchen appliances. Like kitchenaide . except retractable downdraft. Daughter is having a tough time with this one.

Never worked for more than a couple weeks

Have talked to customer service and they offered to repair the pop up after getting an assessment from a repair shop. The parts were on the way for about three months and then finally i get an email from the installer that the replacement parts cannot be obtained. After contacting customer service again, they advised that they would only sell me a new one at a reduced cost and that i would have to pay for the installation myself. The original pop up fan is still not working, and i do not wish to replace it with another pop up as i fear it will not work just like the last one. I have zero confidence that my complaint will be resolved. I strongly feel that if KitchenAid offered to repair my fan and are not able to do so, then they should replace it with a new one, AND warranty the install. The original one had been a problem since installation. Not happy.
