GE 15" Bump Out Kit JX15BUMPBB

Our first clue should have been when ordering through geappliances.com/parts we had issues with the website working so we had to call to order the part. The part arrived and was what we thought we needed but when it came time to install the microwave we ended up not needing it. When attempting to process the return online, the website said there was an issue with credit card authorization (when no credit card information had been requested on the first page of the returns site). So I had to wait until customer service was open on Monday. They couldn't process the pre-paid shipping label because "they don't pay for returns if you just don't want the item." The customer service person was nice but honestly didn't seem to know what was going on and so I ended up having to just mail the part back on my own dime. I really hope that the return is processed correctly, as so far each contact with this company has been frustrating, costly and time consuming. Definitely will not be ordering anything again.

I needed this because when we had to we do our Kitchen, we decided to use Ikea cabinets. The cabinets are 14.5" deep and this bumped out the Microwave (JVM3160RF2SS) far enough to allow the cabinet door to open or the Microwave door to open fully without binding. It did the job for me.

Reading the slim reviews and info indicated we needed this product for installing a 30" microwave over a 36' stovetop. NOPE, only need if not venting to the outside and your space is too deep. Tried to return and GE wouldn't accept even though there was a lack of info before purchasing.

We have a 15" depth cabinet above our stove without outside ventilation. Was very upset to learn that GE no longer made a front venting microwave (mw) when ours went out as all our other appliances are GE. So...we ordered the bump out kit which took almost a month to arrive. Tonight we installed it, and I'm not pleased at all. The mw sticks out 3" past our cabinets. That's 2" of metal on the top of the mw and 1" of the venting. I would have been better off adding pieces of sheetrock or wood behind the mw bracket that came with the mw, building it out 2", then having it protruding 3" in front of the cabinets. I may still, but also not crazy about adding even more holes to the above cabinet. Please bring back at least 1 model in front venting mw, this has been a needless headache!
